Several suspects were caught and a significant amount of weapons recovered during a coordinated search operation in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The joint operation was conducted by the police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Pakistan Army.
A spokesperson for Bannu Police, Khanzala Qureshi, stated that the law enforcement authorities received alerts about the presence of suspicious criminals in the Barganto and Kam Chashmi areas, located within the jurisdiction of the Domel police station.
Acting on these warnings, Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan commanded a comprehensive operation, which was implemented under the supervision of District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kalachi. The mission aimed to break down terrorist networks and eliminate threats in the region.
Leading personnel in the joint operation included Bannu Brigade Commander Brigadier Naveed Ahmed, SP CTD Fazal Wahid, SP Investigation Sajid Mumtaz, and numerous other senior law enforcement and military officials.
Advanced technology, including drone surveillance systems, was deployed to scan areas marked for criminal activity, such as narcotics trafficking, the presence of declared offenders, and suspected terrorist activity.
As stated by the police, 40 suspected individuals have been arrested in the joint operation and transferred to a secure location for further interrogation. A major storage of weapons was also recovered from the captives.
District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kalachi highlighted that the operation aimed to break down the networks involved in drugs, violent crime, and terrorism, and, as a result, strengthen a sense of security among local residents.
Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan praised the cooperating teams for their disciplined execution, mentioning that such efforts play a vital role in exterminating criminal networks and improving public trust in the police.
In a separate development, security forces arrested a high-profile terrorist during a targeted raid in Miryan. “The suspect, wanted since 2009, was linked in killing 8 people and injuring 6 in different incidents”, the official stated.
