Balochistan sizzles as temperatures soar to 48°C, rain expected in some areas

Balochistan is in the grip of an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring as high as 48 degrees Celsius in some areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, most parts of the province are currently experiencing extreme heat and dry conditions.

While the weather remains mostly hot, rain and thunderstorms are expected in places like Zhob, Musa Khel, and Barkhan later in the day.

In terms of temperatures, Quetta reached a high of 40°C, Ziarat 30°C, Zhob 38°C, and Kalat 35°C. Sibi recorded the highest at 48°C, with Turbat close behind at 44°C.

Other cities such as Nokundi, Chaman, Gwadar, and Jiwani also reported high heat, with Nokundi at 46°C and Jiwani at 34°C.

Health professionals have urged people to take extra care in these conditions. They recommend staying indoors during peak sun hours, drinking plenty of fluids, and wearing lightweight clothing to reduce the risk of heatstroke and related illnesses.
