Apple‘s forthcoming smart wearable, likely the Apple Watch Series X, is rumored to adopt a thinner motherboard material. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s previous speculation suggested that the 2025 Apple iPhone 17 Pro might feature a resin-coated copper (RCC) mainboard.

Now, according to Digitimes, citing its sources from the supply chain, it’s possible that at least one upcoming Apple Watch model could also incorporate an RCC material motherboard.

The RCC material employs a thin layer of copper coated with resin, resulting in a slimmer motherboard design. This modification is anticipated to create additional space within the watch for accommodating larger components, such as a bigger battery.

Given the expected redesign for the Apple Watch Series X, there’s speculation that Apple might opt for an RCC motherboard for this repetition. However, the exact release timeframe, whether in 2024 or 2025, remains uncertain.
