Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced a significant increase in police salaries and welfare benefits, saying the new package would be better than expected and make KP Police salaries higher than those offered by other provinces.
Speaking at a ceremony at the Governor House in Peshawar, where residential plot allotment letters were handed over to the families of 54 police martyrs, Kundi also announced an increase in financial compensation for police personnel who lose their lives or suffer injuries while performing their duties.
Under the revised package, the families of martyred police personnel from constables to inspectors will receive Rs17 million. Families of officers holding the ranks of deputy superintendent of police and superintendent of police will be entitled to Rs25 million. For officers in grades 18 and 19, the compensation will increase to Rs30 million, while the families of officers in grade 20 and above will receive Rs35 million.
The Governor also announced Rs70 million in housing assistance for the families of officers in grade 20 and above who are martyred while serving. Police personnel who suffer permanent disabilities during duty will be eligible for Rs5 million in compensation.

The package also includes financial support for serving officers who lose close family members. An officer will receive Rs5 million in the event of the death of a spouse or child, while Rs3 million will be provided in case of the death of a parent, brother or sister.
Kundi said direct financial assistance would now be provided to the families of police personnel martyred in service, replacing the previous arrangement of allocating residential plots. He also announced a special marriage grant for the daughters of police martyrs and directed the authorities to develop an effective system to ensure free education for their children through Sweet Homes and banks’ corporate social responsibility programmes.
Alongside the welfare measures, the Governor announced an increase in police salaries and said around 17,000 vacant posts in the provincial police force would be filled through fresh recruitment. He said the move would ease the workload on serving officers, address staff shortages and strengthen the police force’s ability to protect the public.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary Dr Fakhare Alam Irfan, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, senior police officials, members of the Advisory Council and families of the martyred personnel.
