Lahore introduces rickshaw training program for women

The Lahore Traffic Police has trained 34 women to drive rickshaws in an effort to create more job opportunities and support women’s financial independence.

The training program was arranged in collaboration with a private university on the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The women received training at driving schools in Bahria Town and Manawan.

Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said the initiative aims to help women earn a living by driving rickshaws. He added that the program offers women a chance to become financially independent and support themselves through their own earnings.

The initiative is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to teach women driving skills. Lahore currently has 12 driving schools that provide car and scooter training for women. More than 16,000 women have received driving training through these schools.
