The Jamaat-e-Islami-led Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town administration has launched an Education Card programme for more than 600 students enrolled in six public schools.
Under the initiative, students will receive school uniforms, bags, stationery and other essential educational supplies.
The programme follows a similar initiative launched in Gulberg Town. Jamaat-e-Islami has said it aims to extend the programme to 50,000 students across its nine town administrations.
Speaking at the launch of the Education Card 2026 programme, JI Karachi chief Monem Zafar said education remains a key part of the party’s vision for development and reconstruction.
He said providing children with education and protecting their future was part of the party’s vision. He added that progress and reconstruction could be taken forward through education.
Monem Zafar also congratulated the town chairman, his team and the education department for launching the programme. He said improving and restoring public schools had remained a major priority since the JI secured representation in the town administrations.
According to the JI leader, enrolment in government schools across Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town has increased considerably over the past three years.
He also criticised successive governments for failing to give proper attention to the education sector. He said many public schools continue to face a lack of basic facilities.
