Punjab has announced incentives for police personnel who voluntarily donate blood, offering them a certificate of appreciation, a cash reward, and one day of leave.
According to an official circular, citizens who donate blood will be awarded a community certificate by Punjab Safe Cities. The police department has also directed officers across the province to register themselves as voluntary blood donors.
A month-long blood donor registration campaign is currently being held throughout Punjab. The circular stated that Punjab Safe Cities has set up a virtual blood bank linked with helpline 15 to help people access blood quickly when needed.
People requiring blood for patients can contact helpline 15 for immediate support.
Sources said police officials who donate blood will receive a certificate of appreciation, Rs1,000 in cash and one day of leave as part of the initiative.

The awareness campaign will also be extended to colleges and universities to encourage students and the public to take part in voluntary blood donation.
The circular further stated that virtual blood bank ambassadors will be appointed in every district to promote the programme.
Officials said the virtual blood bank has already assisted citizens in more than 72,000 cases. They added that over 133,000 blood donors have so far registered with the Punjab Safe Cities virtual blood bank.
Citizens who wish to register as blood donors or require blood can call 15 and press 4 to receive immediate assistance.
