Punjab women students to get e-bikes for just Rs2,100 per month

The Punjab government has introduced a special financial relief package for women students under its electric bike (e-bike) scheme. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a decision under which the government will cover both the down payment and the registration fee for eligible women students.

The announcement came during a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department, chaired by the chief minister, as part of the province’s green transport initiative.

With this support, women students will only need to pay an interest-free monthly installment of Rs2,100 to receive an e-bike. Since the government will handle the down payment and registration charges, students will not have to bear the initial cost of purchasing the bike.

The move is intended to make the scheme more affordable and encourage more women students to take advantage of the program.

During the meeting, the chief minister also approved the expansion of the e-bike scheme across Punjab. Under the revised plan, the government will distribute 100,000 e-bikes to students over the next year, while providing a subsidy of Rs70,000 for each bike.
