Pakistan Railways suspends major train operations from Quetta

Railway authorities have suspended train operations from Quetta to several destinations indefinitely due to security concerns.

The suspension includes major passenger trains such as the Jaffar Express and Bolan Mail, which connect Balochistan with Punjab and Sindh. Officials said the step was taken as a precaution to ensure passenger safety in the current security situation.

Pakistan Railways has not given any timeline for restoring services, saying operations will resume only once conditions improve and are considered safe. The affected routes are important rail links from Quetta to cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

The Jaffar Express runs between Quetta and Peshawar, while the Bolan Mail operates between Quetta and Karachi. Both services are widely used for passenger travel and freight, and their suspension is expected to disrupt transport and logistics in the region.

Balochistan has faced similar interruptions in the past due to security issues, leading authorities to temporarily halt services as a safety measure.

Passengers have been advised to follow official updates from Pakistan Railways before making any travel plans.
