Bushra Bibi undergoes eye surgery at private hospital in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, underwent eye surgery at a private hospital in Rawalpindi.

The superintendent of Adiala Jail said the former first lady, who has been in custody for several months, was diagnosed with retinal detachment. He added that jail authorities arranged her medical examination without delay.

He said she was taken to a private hospital on April 16, where pre-surgery tests were carried out. The procedure was performed by a team led by Dr Nadeem Qureshi.

After the operation, she was discharged from the hospital and returned to jail.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan recently completed another phase of his eye treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The hospital’s medical board said his vision has been assessed as satisfactory following the latest treatment.

He received his third anti-VEGF injection with his consent. According to hospital officials, the procedure was carried out in the operation theatre under proper medical protocols and precautions. After the check-up, the medical board confirmed that his eyesight remains stable.
