NDMA issues heatwave alert for multiple districts from April 11

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a heat alert through its National Emergencies Operation Center, warning that temperatures are likely to rise across Sindh and parts of southern Punjab starting April 11.

According to the advisory, temperatures are expected to climb steadily after April 11, with the chance of heatwave conditions developing in several districts. The NDMA stated that nighttime temperatures could stay 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal levels, while daytime temperatures may increase by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius.

Districts such as Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana and nearby areas are likely to face intense heat. Other districts including Jamshoro, Qambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Khairpur, Sanghar, Umerkot and Kashmore are also expected to be affected.

The advisory added that areas like Jhal Magsi, Usta Muhammad and Dera Murad Jamali may also witness a noticeable rise in temperatures. In southern Punjab, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan have also been placed under a heatwave alert.

The NDMA has urged people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during daytime hours and to drink more water to stay hydrated. Extra care has been advised for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and people who work outdoors.

The authority stated that it is closely monitoring the changing weather conditions and will continue to share updates with concerned departments as well as the public. Citizens have also been encouraged to stay informed through the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application.
