PIA to restart direct flights to London after six-year

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to restart direct flights to London later this month, ending a six-year gap and bringing welcome news for Pakistanis living in the United Kingdom.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline will operate three weekly flights from Islamabad and one weekly flight from Lahore. The service will be run using Boeing 777 aircraft.

All flights to London will arrive at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4. This will be the first time in six years that PIA resumes operations on this route.

Flights from Islamabad to London are scheduled to begin on March 29, while flights from Lahore will start on March 30. In the initial phase, the airline will run four weekly flights to the British capital.

The spokesperson added that PIA has maintained ties with the London route for over 70 years, as it was among the airline’s earliest international destinations. With these flights resuming, PIA’s total weekly operations to the UK will increase to seven.

Before the suspension in 2020, PIA used to operate 10 weekly flights between Pakistan and London. The airline plans to gradually increase the number of flights in the future.
