K-Electric announces Syed Taha as Chief Executive

K-Electric has named Syed Taha as its new chief executive officer, replacing interim CEO Adeeb Ahmadlo according to a filing submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.

Taha is currently serving as managing director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil, a role he has held since February 2020. He steps into the position following the resignation of former CEO Moonis Alvi earlier this year.

With a long track record in the energy sector, Taha has previously worked as executive director at Oasis Energy, where he managed the program office for the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria.

He is no stranger to K-Electric, having earlier served as its chief distribution officer. Over the years, he has also held senior roles at Shell Pakistan and Caltex Pakistan.

Taha holds an engineering degree along with an MBA in finance from the Institute of Business Administration Karachi.

His appointment follows a period of transition at K-Electric after Alvi stepped down in February and Ahmad took over as interim CEO. The company has also recently named Shaheryar Chishty as chairman, replacing Mark Skelton.
