Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has issued a fresh NOTAM announcing temporary flight restrictions at Islamabad Airport on March 19. The directive will impact flight operations across six sectors within the Lahore Flight Information Region (FIR).
Under the notice, commercial flights will not be permitted to depart or arrive between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM. Aircraft already in the air within the restricted zones will be required either to divert to alternate airports or remain in holding patterns until normal operations resume.

Pilots have been instructed to carry extra fuel to manage possible delays or diversions. The authority said the step has been taken to ensure safety within controlled airspace and to reduce operational disruption during the short restriction period.
Airlines have also been asked to notify passengers in advance and make necessary changes to their schedules. Travelers with flights to or from Islamabad Airport on March 19 are advised to stay in contact with their airlines for updated departure and arrival times.
Officials described the restriction as a routine airspace safety measure and called on all operators to follow the instructions. The PAA further warned that failure to comply could result in penalties and pose safety concerns.
Passengers have been urged to reach their departure airports early and follow guidance issued by airline staff. The NOTAM highlights Pakistan’s continued focus on maintaining aviation safety while ensuring smooth management of air traffic on key routes.
