Sindh announces 15-day spring break for schools and colleges

The Sindh government has announced a 15-day spring break for schools and colleges across the province. All public and private educational institutions will remain closed from March 16 to March 31.

Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed the decision on Tuesday, saying it was approved during a Sindh cabinet meeting as part of wider measures being implemented nationwide.

Although physical classes will be suspended, the provincial government has instructed colleges and universities to continue academic activities through online classes. This is aimed at ensuring that students’ learning is not interrupted during the break.

Education authorities have been asked to coordinate with institutions to support digital learning platforms and remote teaching, allowing students to keep up with their coursework.

Despite the temporary closure of schools and colleges, examinations will go ahead as scheduled.

Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that no changes will be made to the exam timetable, and students will appear for their papers as planned. Officials advised students to stay informed through their respective institutions regarding any arrangements related to exams.

The announcement comes shortly after the Punjab government declared school closures from March 10 to March 31, showing that provincial administrations are taking coordinated steps to reduce energy use and operational costs.

The decision is part of a nationwide austerity plan introduced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which includes energy-saving measures, spending cuts, and operational adjustments in public sector institutions.
