A shallow westerly weather system is expected to bring rain and gusty, dust-raising winds to parts of Sindh, including Karachi, on February 17, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.
The Met Office has forecast rain, wind, and thunderstorms in several regions of the country from February 16 to 17. It also warned that isolated hailstorms may occur in northern Balochistan, Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Dera Ghazi Khan in Punjab during this period.
In Balochistan, light to moderate rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is likely in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chaghi, Nokkundi, Dalbandin, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Khuzdar, Kech, Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Awaran, Kharan, Pasni, Ormara, and Lasbela from the evening of February 16 through February 17, with occasional breaks.
Sindh may receive rain and strong winds in Dadu, Hyderabad, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Khairpur on February 17.
Southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Kurram, may also experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms during the same period.
The department advised farmers to protect standing crops and urged the public to exercise caution during dust storms and heavy showers.
