Water supply to Rawalpindi and Islamabad will stay affected for the next 10 days as authorities begin cleaning work at Khanpur Dam, according to a report.
A notification issued by the CDA’s Khanpur Dam division stated that water supply will remain suspended from February 5 to February 15. Officials have decided to regulate the flow of water to the Sangani treatment plant during this period.
Due to the maintenance work, Rawalpindi’s water supply will be reduced from 19 million gallons to six million gallons. Islamabad will also face a reduction, with supply dropping from 9.6 million gallons to four million gallons.
Relevant departments have been instructed to arrange alternative water supply measures to manage the shortfall.
