KARACHI: Four people, including women, are feared missing after a massive fire broke out at Gul Plaza in Karachi.
According to relatives, the family had gone to the market to shop for a wedding. Family members waiting outside the burnt building on MA Jinnah Road said the women had visited the plaza to buy wedding items, but all contact with them was lost late at night.
An uncle and aunt who arrived in search of them said that all four missing individuals belong to the same family. They shared that the family lives nearby and began looking for them when no word was received until 1am. However, even those who went to find them failed to return, increasing the family’s anxiety.
Relatives said they visited several hospitals but could not find any trace of the missing woman. Their names also do not appear among the confirmed victims of the fire.
After the incident, many people have been seen desperately searching for loved ones. One man said he last spoke to his brother during the blaze, when he pleaded for help and said he feared he would not survive.
A shop worker named Arif, who was employed at Gul Plaza, is also unaccounted for. His uncle said Arif’s final call came while he was trying to fight the fire, begging to be rescued.
