Lahore board matric exams 2026 likely to be delayed

The start of the matriculation annual examinations 2026 is expected to be delayed this year because of Ramazan, according to a report on Wednesday.

Sources said the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education is considering holding the exams from March 27, after the Eid al-Fitr holidays. The board has already approached the relevant authorities to seek approval for beginning the exams on this date.

Once the Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen gives its approval, the final schedule for the matriculation exams will be announced.

Meanwhile, students have voiced concerns over the proposed delay, suggesting that exams should begin as planned on March 1, with only a short break of one week for Eid. They pointed out that the Pakistan Super League is set to begin on March 23, which could distract students during an already tight preparation period.

Parents also expressed reservations, warning that postponing the matric exams could disrupt the timelines for BA and intermediate examinations as well.
