Final arrangements for celebrating the Basant festival in Lahore are underway at 40 locations that have been declared Red Zones, according to a report on Monday.
Lahore police have completed a security plan and formed joint teams of police and traffic wardens to manage the situation.
These Red Zones were identified due to past incidents involving loss of life during kite flying. Under the plan, citizens will be allowed to install protective barriers on their motorcycles.
Police officials said that the transportation of kites and strings will only be permitted after obtaining official approval.
At present, kite flying remains completely banned. The activity will be allowed only after the Punjab government issues a formal notification.
Authorities have also announced strict monitoring through CCTV cameras, which will be installed in Safe City areas to ensure security and compliance.
