Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti launched the province’s first Pink Bus Service in Quetta on Wednesday, calling it an important move to ensure safe and respectful transport for women.
He said this step follows recent projects such as the Pink Scooties scheme and demonstrates the government’s resolve to support women’s empowerment.
Speaking at the event, CM Bugti appreciated the strong performance of women deputy commissioners in several districts, saying their work proves that women can handle major administrative roles just as effectively.
He added that the new service, along with scholarships and other development programs, is meant to create more opportunities for women across different fields.
He also criticized groups he referred to as “extremist elements,” accusing them of misleading Baloch women and pushing them toward harmful agendas. Bugti stressed that the government wants Baloch women to focus on education, development, and a brighter future.
He announced that the Green Bus Service will soon be expanded to Pishin, Mastung, and Turbat. He shared that work is underway to introduce electric buses to improve public transport and reduce pollution. He further noted that the Quetta–Sariab Peoples Train Project will offer much-needed convenience to residents of the area.
