Russia suspends Pakistan Post services over unpaid dues

Russia has stopped all Pakistan Post international mail services after the department failed to clear Rs55 million in dues, according to the report on Friday.

In a written response submitted to the National Assembly, Federal Minister for Communication Abdul Aleem Khan stated that Russian Post imposed the suspension in August 2025 and officially informed Pakistan about it.

He explained that the unpaid amount has been pending since 2021, even though Russia repeatedly reminded Pakistan Post to settle it.

The minister also revealed that Pakistan Post’s financial issues go far beyond this case. As of November 12, 2021, the department owes more than Rs310 million in international liabilities, showing how long-standing and serious the financial strain has been.

Abdul Aleem Khan added that Pakistan Post plans to clear the Russian dues once the Finance Division releases the required funds. After the payment is made, Pakistan will ask Russia to restore international mail operations.

The suspension has affected individuals, businesses, and academic institutions that rely on postal exchanges between the two countries.
