Matric, intermediate exams to be held after Eidul Fitr 2026 in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab education minister has announced that matric and intermediate examinations will now be conducted after Eidul Fitr 2026, according to the report on Wednesday.

Previously, matric exams were scheduled to begin on March 3, while the schedule for intermediate exams had not yet been finalized.

The minister said the decision to hold both matric and intermediate exams after Eidul Fitr was made to provide students relief during Ramadan and the holiday period.

Earlier, the Karachi Commissioner imposed Section 144 around all intermediate exam centers to prevent cheating and ensure transparency in the examination process.

These restrictions will remain in effect until December 30. Exams will be conducted daily from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Only candidates with verified admit cards and staff on duty will be allowed inside, while all unrelated persons are strictly prohibited within a 200-yard radius of the exam centers.

The use of photocopy machines is banned, weapons are strictly forbidden, and mobile phones or other electronic devices are not allowed inside. Public gatherings near the centers are also completely prohibited.

Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to take strict action under Section 188 against any violations of these orders. This directive was issued following a request by the Chairman of the Intermediate Board to protect the examination process and curb the activities of the cheating mafia.
