Lahore’s air quality has reached an alarming point, putting residents’ health in danger as the Air Quality Index climbed to 410 on Sunday, according to the report.
The city now stands as the second most polluted city in the world, while Karachi holds the fourth spot with an AQI of 213. Smog-heavy conditions continue across Punjab, with Faisalabad experiencing extremely unhealthy air as its AQI crossed 500.
Several areas in Lahore also reported dangerously high levels, including 782 in Gulberg II and 547 on Shalimar Road.
Other localities such as Iqbal Town, Civil Secretariat, Saddar Cantt, Barki Road, DHA Phase Five, Johar Town, Bedian Road, and Askari 10 recorded pollution levels ranging from 185 to 249.
Experts warn that pollution levels are expected to stay higher than usual and urge citizens to use masks, avoid going outdoors unnecessarily, and keep homes sealed. They also advise consulting a doctor if there is any breathing or eye irritation.
