LESCO introduces new rules for solar net metering

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has introduced tighter rules for net metering projects after noticing an increase in the use of substandard inverters in solar systems, as per the report.

According to the new regulations, consumers seeking meters for net metering must register the inverter number along with the company name. LESCO has also instructed that all inverter numbers be recorded in its ERP system.

While applying for meter allocation, consumers must submit the inverter number along with the demand notice, and failure to do so will lead to cancellation of the allocation.

The inverter numbers provided by companies will become part of the official record, and they will also be verified at the time of meter installation.

LESCO emphasized that any mismatch in the inverter number will prevent meter installation, ensuring that only approved and verified solar equipment is connected to the electricity grid.
