The 361st meeting of the Punjab University (PU) Senate was held on Thursday at the Senate Hall, Old Campus, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, representing the Punjab Governor in his role as Chancellor.
In the session, the Senate approved student scholarships worth Rs170 million, continuing the university’s tradition of supporting learners financially.
Punjab University’s first-ever strategic plan was also presented, outlining reforms in academics, finance, and administration.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali assured that no student would be forced to quit studies due to fees, noting that each student will receive a subsidy of Rs219,000 this year, while hostel residents will get an additional Rs150,000.
He further announced that the university will establish an endowment fund for research, pensions, and development projects, highlighting that PU has saved Rs. 240 million in electricity costs over the past eight months.
The Senate also approved recommendations from the Academic Council and finalized the budgets for 2024–25 and 2025–26.
