Pakistan marks Defence Day as COAS Asim Munir pays tribute to martyrs

ISLAMABAD: On the 60th Defence and Martyrs Day, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid a rich tribute to the martyrs and their families, saying their sacrifices remain a lasting source of pride and inspiration for generations to come, according to the report.

Pakistan’s Armed Forces marked September 6 by honoring the courage of the nation’s fallen heroes and reaffirming their pledge to safeguard the country and serve the people.

In a joint message, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, along with the Air Chief and Naval Chief, echoed these sentiments, praising the bravery and resilience of the soldiers.

The military leadership described the events of September 6, 1965, as a defining moment of unity and resolve, when Pakistan’s forces stood firm against aggression. “Our soldiers stood like a solid, strong wall, supported by a united nation,” the statement noted.

The Armed Forces assured that any future threat would be met with a swift and decisive response. They also reiterated their support for citizens hit by natural calamities, highlighting ongoing relief work in flood-affected areas.

Defence and Martyrs Day is observed with solemn respect nationwide, remembering those who laid down their lives since 1947, especially in the fight against terrorism. ISPR stated, “Long live Pakistan,” reaffirming the military’s commitment to defend peace and stability at all costs.

The day stands as a reminder for the nation to honor the sacrifices of its heroes while working together for a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.
