Schools and colleges shut for two days in Punjab district

The district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in Sialkot on August 29 and 30 due to severe flooding.

A notification from the Deputy Commissioner stated that continuous heavy rains and rising river levels have caused widespread damage across different parts of the district.

Officials explained that the decision was made to safeguard students and teachers while rescue and relief operations are underway.

The closure affects all tehsils of Sialkot, while several schools have also been converted into temporary shelters and relief camps for displaced families.

The Deputy Commissioner urged parents and school authorities to follow the government’s directions and ensure children remain in safe places until conditions improve.
