The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Wednesday that there will be no gas shutdown in Karachi’s District West on August 14, reversing its earlier decision.
The company had earlier planned to suspend supply from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in areas such as Haroonabad SITE Area, Sher Shah, SITE, Jehanabad, Mianwali Colony, Lashari Mohalla, Metroville, Bawani Chali, Pathan Colony, Old Golimar, Rexer Colony, Hasan Oliya and Muslimabad.
Industrial locations, including SITE Industrial Area, Gulbai, Mauripur, Tikri Village and Muslim Colony, were also to be affected.
The shutdown was initially scheduled to facilitate the relocation of a gas pipeline at the request of the Karachi Water Board. However, with the Water Board postponing its pipeline restoration work, the suspension has been called off.
An SSGC spokesperson stated that the decision was made to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply for consumers during the Independence Day holiday. “The statement issued on Tuesday regarding the suspension should now be considered cancelled,” the spokesperson added.
