Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the distribution of 100,000 free laptops to talented students across the country purely on merit.
He announced on Tuesday while speaking at an International Youth Day event in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister said the laptops will be distributed in all four provinces, the federal capital, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, with no room for nepotism.
He added that this initiative is separate from the scheme offering laptops through interest-based loans.
Speaking about Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the Prime Minister said Pakistan’s victory on May 10 against a numerically larger and overconfident enemy had reignited a sense of pride and energy among the nation.
He encouraged the youth to channel this spirit into hard work and strive to bring honour to the country.
Earlier, Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Program, Rana Mashhood, said the government’s merit-based initiatives have enabled capable and deserving students to achieve success.
He highlighted several landmark projects that continue to support thousands in completing their education, including the Pakistan Education Endowment Scheme, the Pakistan Daanish Authority, and the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme.
Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Kesoo Mal Khael Das, also addressed the event, stating that Pakistan’s minority communities have always contributed to the nation’s progress and will continue to do so.
