Malik Riaz confirms Bahria Town could be shut down nationwide

Malik Riaz, the well-known property developer, announced on Tuesday that Bahria Town is on the verge of a complete shutdown across Pakistan due to escalating pressure from authorities.

In a post shared on X, he expressed grave concern over the worsening situation, citing the arrest of numerous staff members, the freezing of all company bank accounts, and the confiscation of staff vehicles.

These actions, he said, have severely disrupted the company’s ability to function. According to Riaz, the company’s cash flow has collapsed entirely, making it impossible to maintain daily operations or pay the salaries of thousands of employees.

“We are certainly one step behind this last step, but the situation on the ground is getting worse by the minute,” he warned.

Earlier the same day, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) announced that it would auction off several high-profile properties owned by Malik Riaz on August 7, 2025, further intensifying the pressure on his real estate empire.
