KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said those who once tested others must now pass a test themselves.
Speaking at a ceremony in Karachi on Tuesday, he called the teacher licensing initiative a groundbreaking step toward ensuring both capability and accountability. “Every teacher has to get the license now,” he said.
Shah revealed that in the first round of testing, only 650 out of 4,000 teachers cleared the exam. He added that this licensing system will also be extended to private schools and institutions for special education.
He emphasized that teachers are now being given the same professional standing as other licensed fields.
The chief minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to raising education standards to meet international levels.
He said the introduction of merit-based tests for teachers has set a clear benchmark for quality.
“The reforms represent the teamwork, harmony and determination,” he said, stressing that no real change in education can happen without the involvement of teachers.
