Murree GT road closed for all traffic after heavy landslide

A landslide in the Salgran area has forced the closure of Murree’s GT Road to all types of traffic.

During an inspection of the site, Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi and District Police Officer Asif Amin Awan narrowly escaped a dangerous situation when rocks started tumbling down the slope.

A large boulder nearly struck the DPO’s vehicle, but everyone inside remained safe.

However, Deputy Commissioner Shirazi was injured when a stone hit him, causing a foot fracture. He is being moved to THQ Hospital for medical care.

The ongoing heavy rain not only caused serious traffic disruptions but also damaged a large portion of the road.

Authorities have stated that the GT Road will stay closed until the weather improves and necessary repair work is done.

In the meantime, travelers and residents are being advised to take the Murree Expressway as an alternate route.

Officials have requested the public to avoid any unnecessary movement in the area and to cooperate with the administration.
