The Punjab School Education Department has decided to dismiss all government school principals who were temporarily appointed without passing the official qualification test.
The move comes as part of an effort to ensure merit-based appointments and improve the quality of leadership in public schools.
According to the department, any individual currently serving as a school head who has not cleared the necessary assessment will be removed from their post.
To conduct the tests, the department will establish six examination centers in every district. Preparations are already underway, and district education authorities have been asked to share detailed data to help set up these centers.
Each exam center will be required to meet specific standards, including having electricity, internet access, and CCTV cameras for monitoring. Moreover, proper seating arrangements must be made for at least 40 candidates per location.
All district authorities must submit the requested information to the DPI (Secondary) Punjab by July 4, 2025, as per official instructions.
This step signals a clear push toward accountability and transparency in educational leadership across Punjab’s government schools.
