Traffic plan announced for Muharram 2025

The City Traffic Police in Peshawar has put a special traffic plan in place for Muharram to maintain public safety and smooth traffic flow throughout the city.

As per a press release on Sunday, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Haroon Rashid Khan has assigned over 1,000 traffic staff, including wardens, forklift operators, and motorcycle riders, to key points across the city to manage any congestion or road closures.

He instructed the force to thoroughly check all procession routes and ensure the required arrangements are in place. In line with this, traffic teams inspected the routes and took immediate steps to address concerns raised by different religious organizations.

From the 7th to the 10th of Muharram, roads leading to mourning gatherings and processions will be closed to regular traffic. However, alternate routes have been planned to ease travel for the public and participants.

Haroon Rashid also said that officials would regularly visit Imambargahs in different areas to promptly address any emerging issues. “Immediate action will be taken wherever problems are pointed out,” he confirmed.
