Several parts of Pakistan endured dangerous levels of heat stress on Saturday, with the “feels-like” temperature rising above 50°C in multiple cities, prompting health alerts from officials.
As per figures issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Jacobabad topped the list with an alarming heat index of 60°C.
Dadu followed closely at 59.7°C, while Sibbi recorded 56.6°C, all falling within the “Extreme Danger” zone, where the risk of heat stroke is considered extremely high.
Cities with Feels-Like Temperatures Over 50°C:
Jacobabad: 60°C
Dadu: 59.7°C
Sibbi: 56.6°C
Dera Ghazi Khan: 55.8°C
Multan: 54.8°C
Bahawalpur: 53.7°C
Dera Ismail Khan: 51°C
The PMD cautioned that such heat index levels drastically increase the chances of severe heat-related conditions, including heat exhaustion and stroke, particularly for those exposed to the sun for extended periods.
