Punjab bans pillion riding across province for two days

The Punjab government has decided to enforce Section 144 throughout the province from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram ul Haram to uphold peace and security during the holy month.

A spokesperson from the provincial home department confirmed that pillion riding will be banned on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, with exceptions made for elderly individuals and women.

Additionally, the public display and transportation of firearms or explosives will be strictly forbidden for the first ten days of Muharram to avoid any threats to public safety.

The spokesperson also emphasized that “chanting provocative slogans, delivering hate speeches, or making inciting statements and remarks will also be banned under Section 144.”

Citizens have been asked to support law enforcement efforts, with authorities warning of strict legal consequences for anyone found violating these directives.

Police and other agencies have been instructed to ensure these rules are firmly implemented in all districts.
