Lahore, Punjab to face rain, storms, rising heat this weekend

Intermittent rain showers, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms are expected to sweep through Lahore and various parts of Punjab starting Friday night and continuing over the weekend.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported that moderate to strong moisture-laden winds are moving into the upper regions of the country from tonight, with central parts expected to be affected from Saturday. A new westerly weather system is also set to hit upper and central Pakistan tomorrow.

As a result, areas like Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, and Dera Ghazi Khan may experience scattered rain and strong winds Friday night.

On Saturday and Sunday, these weather conditions are forecast to intensify in cities including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, and Bahawalpur, with possible heavy downpours and hail in some areas.

In Lahore, the temperature is expected to reach 35–37°C on Saturday and climb to 37–39°C on Sunday.

While the weather remained mostly hot and dry across Punjab over the past 24 hours, Bahawalpur and Attock topped the heat index at 45°C, followed by Dera Ghazi Khan at 43°C and Lahore at 40°C, with evening humidity measured at 35 per cent.
