SBP launches ‘Go Cashless’ campaign for Eid-ul-Azha cattle markets nationwide

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched a nationwide “Go Cashless” campaign to encourage the use of digital payments and cut down on cash transactions in cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Starting today, May 20, 2025, and continuing until June 6, 2025 (Eid night), this initiative supports SBP’s wider goal of promoting digital financial inclusion across the country.

In collaboration with banks, the campaign focuses on making buying and selling sacrificial animals easier and more efficient in 54 selected cattle markets nationwide.

Building on the success of last year’s efforts, this year’s campaign aims to increase the use of digital payments among everyone involved.

People will be able to use digital payment methods for a range of transactions within these markets, not only for purchasing animals but also for essentials like water, feed, and even parking fees.

To make things easier for both sellers and buyers, SBP has temporarily raised transaction limits from May 19 to June 15, 2025.

For Branchless Banking Level-1 Accounts, Asaan Accounts, Asaan Digital Accounts, and Merchant Accounts, daily transaction limits have been removed, and monthly limits increased to PKR 5,000,000.

The public is strongly encouraged to use these safe and convenient digital financial services throughout the Eid-ul-Azha period.

By taking part in the “Go Cashless” campaign, everyone can help build a more efficient and inclusive financial system in Pakistan.
