Islamabad weather update: Hot, dry conditions expected this weekend

Hot and dry weather is forecasted for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and much of Pakistan on Saturday and Sunday, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) attributing the conditions to the dominance of continental air over the region.

Day temperatures are expected to be 2°C to 4°C above normal in Sindh and South Punjab. In Islamabad, the maximum temperature is predicted to be between 33°C and 35°C on Saturday and 34°C to 36°C on Sunday.

Similarly, Rawalpindi’s temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 35°C on Saturday and 34°C to 36°C on Sunday.

The weather in the twin cities and most of the country has been dry for the past 24 hours, with hot weather in the plains and light rain in isolated parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dir and Kalam.

Mithi, the hottest location in Pakistan, saw a high of 43°C, while Turbat recorded 42°C, Lasbela and Chhor 41°C, and Nokkundi 40°C.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature reached 31°C, with evening humidity at 35%, and Rawalpindi saw a maximum of 30°C with 24% evening humidity.

The overall trend for April 2025 indicates fewer rains and higher temperatures across the country.
