Karachi weather update: Cloudy skies with rainfall expected

Karachi has been under a thick layer of clouds since morning, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting a chance of rain later in the day.

The city experienced a drop in temperatures overnight, making Thursday night noticeably colder than previous days, according to the report.

As of this morning, the skies remain overcast, influenced by a western weather system moving in from Balochistan.

This system has started to impact Karachi, bringing a 1.5-degree Celsius temperature drop, with the lowest recorded at 18°C today.

The weather is expected to stay cloudy throughout the day, with light showers or drizzle anticipated in various parts of the city by the evening or night.

Meanwhile, Lahore and several regions of Punjab have been experiencing intermittent rainfall since last evening, as the same weather system remains active.

The rainfall has brought cooler temperatures, and authorities hope it will provide relief from the continued dry spell in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, where the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) stated that this rain, after five months, will help end the drought.

According to the Meteorological Department, Punjab’s temperatures have slightly dropped, with snowfall expected in hilly regions.

Several areas are likely to receive rainfall today, including Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and Bahawalnagar.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature has been recorded at 11°C, with highs expected to reach up to 22°C
