Pakistan Railways introduces new refund policy

Pakistan Railways has introduced a revised ticket refund policy, which will also apply to tickets booked through the “Raabta” app.

According to the official notification, passengers who purchase tickets from the railway’s Point of Sale (POS) system can receive a refund of up to 90% if they cancel their ticket at least 48 hours before the train’s departure.

For cancellations made between 24 to 48 hours before departure, 80% of the ticket price will be refunded, while those canceling within 24 hours of departure will be eligible for a 70% refund.

Passengers still have the option to get a 50% refund if they cancel within two hours of the train’s departure. However, if a train is delayed by six hours or more, passengers will be entitled to a full refund.

Refunds for POS tickets will only be processed at the same counters where they were originally purchased.

To claim a refund, passengers must provide the original ticket along with a copy of their ID card. After verification, they will receive a cancellation slip along with their refund.

For tickets booked online, refunds will only be processed through the same digital payment method used for purchasing the ticket.

The same refund rules apply to online bookings, with no refunds available after the train has departed. However, if the cancellation occurs within 90 minutes before departure, a 50% refund will still be granted.
