Oppo Find N3, the company’s book-style foldable phone introduced in 2023, made its mark as the OnePlus Open in global markets. The phone set a high benchmark for foldable smartphones with its high-resolution display, impressive camera setup, and unique design.
However there was no successor in 2024, the OnePlus Open has now lags behind newer competitors like the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Google Pixel 9 Pro.
Recently, Oppo’s Chief Product Officer, Pete Lau, teased the Find N5, showcasing its thin profile compared to a pencil. Following this, live images have surfaced, shedding more light on the Find N5 (or possibly the OnePlus Open 2).
A tipster (@RODENT950) shared three images on X (formerly known as Twitter) of a foldable device resembling the Oppo Find N3. While it is not confirmed if this model will launch as the OnePlus Open 2, the images reveal notable design changes.

One image shows the phone’s slim profile when folded, with compact halves and a refined hinge design. Another image shows the phone in a protective case used during testing, revealing unchanged positions for the volume and power buttons, as well as the USB-C port.
The design updates include a reshaped camera module and the triangular camera arrangement in a circular layout from the Find N3, which has been replaced with a squarish layout. The periscope telephoto camera now occupies the top-left corner, while the LED flash is integrated into the camera module instead of sitting externally, according to Gadgets360.
A third image raises questions as it differs from the first two, showing the USB-C port placement and highlighting the device’s slim build but lacking a visible speaker grille. This suggests it might belong to a different prototype.
The first Find N vs Find N5
It’s hard to believe that in just three years, OPPO managed to cut the thickness in (almost) half.
In fact, the *unfolded* Find N is almost as thick as the *folded* Find N5.
Thickness when folded:

✅ Find N5: 9.2 mm pic.twitter.com/Y5nuQHqIB7— Alvin (@sondesix) January 15, 2025
Another leak from tipster Alvin (@sondesix) compares the thickness of the upcoming device to its predecessor. While the original Oppo Find N measured a bulky 15.9mm when folded, the new model is reportedly just 9.2mm thick, significantly slimmer than the OnePlus Open’s 11.7mm and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold at 10.5mm.
Unless Huawei releases its 9.9mm Mate X6 globally, Oppo’s new device could claim the title of the “thinnest foldable” of the year. Achieving such a slim profile without compromising durability will be an intriguing engineering feat when the device is officially unveiled.
