Maryam Nawaz claims Punjab college rape case as ‘planned story’

CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz strongly criticized PTI during her press conference on Wednesday while addressing the alleged rape case at Punjab College.

She dismissed the case as a planned story, stating that the girl is unharmed. Maryam Nawaz insisted that no such incident occurred and that the report stemmed from social media rumors.

She clarified that upon receiving the report, a thorough investigation was conducted, revealing no evidence of the alleged incident.

During a press conference in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz declared, “I chaired the final meeting of the investigative committee and am presenting the facts. I am both a mother and the chief executive of this province and protecting the dignity of women is my responsibility. The police received a report claiming that a student at a private college in Punjab had been raped.”

She continued, “The incident was reported to have occurred on the 10th, but the girl had been hospitalized since the 2nd after a serious fall that left her critically injured and admitted to the ICU. She was wrongly portrayed as a rape victim.”

Maryam Nawaz stated that the Punjab Group of Colleges belongs to a respected individual, and the incident appears to be an attempt to damage the college’s reputation. She added that she reprimanded the provincial education minister for suspending the college’s registration.

The college’s teacher and the victim’s friend also attended the press conference with CM. They spoke at the media conference, supporting the statements of CM Maryam Nawaz.

She mentioned that the girl’s mother is upset and wants action against those who spread false information.

CM Punjab accused a political party of creating unrest in the province regarding this case.

She claimed that a deliberate plan was devised to mislead and provoke students through social media, accusing PTI of fueling rumors and exploiting them for political gain.

“The girl [in the viral video] is not a rape victim, but a victim of bad politics and conspiracy,” she stated.
