Last month, on August 19th, a road incident occurred on Karachi’s Karsaz road. A woman named Natasha wife of Gul Ahmed Energy CEO Danish Iqbal killed two people, a father and his daughter by running them over with her car.
The Victim’s Amna Arif and Imran Arif case is in court, as always happens in Pakistan, where powerful people often escape punishment for causing harm to the less privileged. The victim’s family is reportedly going to make a statement in this case to receive financial compensation. They are expected to submit Diyyat records to show that they do not have issues with Natasha’s bail.
After the accident, a video of the incident went viral on social media, the public showed strong support for the victims. Following this, the court advocates also raised their voices for justice. Despite the widespread support for the poor victims, Natasha gets arrested. However, there were concerns that the elite class could manipulate the justice system using their wealth.
But even after all the support, the victim’s family agree to a settlement. The Diyyat amount has been determined for two victims, which is around 5.5 crore rupees, according to media reports.
