The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced that revised bills will be issued within the next two days, as revealed by Rawalpindi Commissioner Aamir Khattak. He further stated that adjustments will be made for those who have already paid their bills, which will be reflected in next month’s bill.
In a recent development, the Punjab government declared a relief of Rs14 per unit for consumers in Punjab and Islamabad who used electricity between 201 to 500 units in August and September.
Under this scheme, the provincial government will cover the difference between the actual electricity cost and the discounted rate. The commissioner confirmed that all distribution companies (discos) have been given official instructions to implement this relief, according to Gadinsider.
This decision was taken following directives from Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, and letters have been sent to all discos, including IESCO, Lahore Electric Supply Company, Gujranwala Electric Supply Company, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, and Multan Electric Supply Company.
In order to provide relief to the residents of Punjab and Islamabad, the provincial government has allocated a budget of Rs 45 billion. This package includes a reduction in electricity rates for those consuming between 201 and 500 units during August and September.
