At least 14 people, including three women, were killed and 26 others injured when a bus from the University of Animal Sciences collided with a passenger van in Jhang on Wednesday, as per the source.
District Emergency Officer Muhammad Sultan said the accident occurred near Quli Faqir while students were travelling to Faisalabad to take part in sports activities. Rescue teams reached the scene shortly after the collision and transported the deceased and injured to nearby hospitals.
Deputy Commissioner Jhang Ali Akbar and District Police Officer Bilal Iftikhar Kiani visited the site to oversee rescue and relief efforts.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the incident. She directed authorities to provide the best possible medical care to the injured students and passengers and instructed the Deputy Commissioner Jhang to personally monitor the treatment process.
The chief minister also requested a detailed report on the accident from the concerned authorities.
