A cockroach reportedly startled Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Waqar Mehdi when he noticed it crawling in his plate containing a sandwich, samosa, and other refreshments during a Senate committee meeting, raising concerns about poor hygiene at the Parliament House.
Senator Waqar Mehdi said this was the third time he had encountered a cockroach, adding that insects were present throughout the Parliament House, including on plates, tables, and among office files.
Committee Chairman Senator Saifullah Abro took serious notice of the complaint and said he had earlier written to the Senate Secretariat regarding the presence of cockroaches and the overall sanitary conditions inside the Parliament House.
