Workshop owner arrested for setting 12-year-old boy on fire in Lahore

A disturbing incident occurred in Lahore’s Gulberg Model Colony, where a workshop owner allegedly set a 12-year-old child worker on fire. Police said the boy, Faizan, suffered serious burn injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to the initial investigation, petrol from a vehicle’s carburettor had accidentally spilled on Faizan’s clothes. When the workshop owner, identified as Babar, found out, he allegedly threw a lit matchstick at the boy, setting him on fire.

A case has been registered against Babar on the complaint of Faizan’s father, Shah Muhammad, and the accused has been taken into custody. Gulberg Police confirmed that a detailed investigation is ongoing.

Earlier this month, a similar incident was reported in Sheikhupura, where a landowner allegedly threw a young boy into a burning brick kiln after the child asked for a piece of corn. The boy sustained severe burns and was rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.

The child’s mother, who said her family survives by begging, claimed the landowner showed no compassion. Police have begun an inquiry and are searching for the suspect involved in the cruel act.
