Karachi police warn public against fake e-challan SMS scam

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah has cautioned citizens against fake SMS messages being circulated in the name of Karachi’s e-challan system, terming them fraudulent.

In a statement, he clarified that the Karachi Traffic Police has not yet begun sending e-challans through text messages and urged the public to stay alert. “People should ignore any messages claiming to be official e-challans,” he advised.

At the same time, the Karachi Traffic Police has launched a new mobile app called “Tracks Citizen”, designed to help motorists check their vehicle records, e-challans, and traffic violations after the rollout of the city’s digital fine system.

The app allows users to view complete information about their registered vehicles and any linked violations by logging in with their CNIC, displaying all details directly on the dashboard.
